Claire’s Bucket List: ROAD TRIP with my best buds… check!!! This fall break I did exactly that! We loaded up the Jeep and had a two car Texas caravan ready for a fun-filled fall break with my sweet pals Amber, Caroline, Delaney, Ryan and my guy, Conner!
Sit back and follow along on our Texas fall break adventures! YEE HAW!
Day 1
Alarms going off at 6am… goooodmorning and roll tide from Alabama! We were up and ready to hit the road for Texas… made a coffee stop (of course) and got the jams ready for the 9 hour drive ahead! With our Vlog camera in hand we had a theme for each hour of the trip! Everything from Q&A hour, Karaoke hour, and Disney hour! We even made stopping for gas an adventure as we climbed on top of the Jeep for a fun photo op… and became friends with the cashier! The drive flew by with our fun jams and good convos… before we knew it we were stopping at a Whataburger about to cross the Texas state line (yee haw!!!) Approaching my home town we stopped two more times including Texas Fried Pies and Buc-ee’s (a true Texas classic)! Pictures with cows and our cowboy hats really set the tone for the trip! A few minutes later, Siri told us, “ARRIVING AT DESTINATION” and we cued up the jam “The Final Countdown”! My sweet parents prepared dinner for us and we had some much needed cuddle time with my sweet doxie, Scarlett. My friends and I brought out our guitars and sang a few tunes before hitting the hay! Successful day one for sure!
Day 2
Home Sweet Home in Arlington, Texas! We wake up to some good ol’ cups of joe and get the day started! So, 3/5 friends I was traveling with are from California so that day we decided an In-and-Out lunch was required! We jumped in the car to head to Ft. Worth where we could grab lunch, walk around, and shop for a bit! The Californians gave our Texas In-and-Out two thumbs up… especially because it sold sweet tea 😉 After that we watched the classic movie, “Grease” for a fun sing-a-long and got our tickets for Fright Night at Six Flags Over Texas! We may all be in college and heading straight into our adult years… but we reallllly love our theme parks! That night at Six Flags is definitely one I will never forget. So you see, the majority of my friends I was traveling with all loved the big big rides… where me and my gal Caroline would be happy holding everyone’s purses and drinks. Caroline and I waited for everyone while they went on the Texas Giant (a veryyyy large drop and high speed coaster). As the night progressed and the sky got darker, more and more spooky scares were coming out and fright night was getting intense. We would walk from ride to ride, all holding hands in a huddle, nervous as we shuffled through the fog waiting to get spooked! My sweet friend and DG little, Delaney, got scared so bad that she just took off running in front of us haha! As the night went on, and our friend’s peer pressure set in, Caroline and I found ourselves seated and cranking up to the drops! To be honest, I am so glad they encouraged us because it was such a blast! I was holding on to Conner’s hand so hard that I’m not sure if he had any feeling anymore! Whoopsie! Our group decided that for our last ride of the night we were going to do the Texas Giant – this time with Caroline and I on it – and boy, was it crazy! Conner looked at me and was like “front cart?!” and my stomach dropped! We did it though – and it was the most fun! Behind us was Delaney and Caroline screaming their heads off and at the veryyyy last cart was Amber and Ryan, two very very brave souls who can ride a roller coaster like no one’s business! Definitely some team bonding going on in the midst of the Fright Night fears haha! That’s a night I know we will never forget!

Day 3
The sweet yummy smells of waffles and bacon help us to rise n’ shine and we run downstairs for a wonderful breakfast spread prepared by my sweet sweet Nana! Waffles were the perfect start for our mini road trip to Magnolia Farms in Waco, TX! We all loaded up the car in our best Magnolia Silos outfits, cued up the jams, and sang our way over to Waco. It was so fun being able to show all my pals Magnolia – it is one of my favorite places in Texas! How can anyone not love the sweet Chip and Jo story?! We walked around, ate at the yummy food trucks, shopped around, and of course, took many many pictures! If you’re traveling to Texas and find yourself in the Waco area you definitely need to put Magnolia on your list.

While you’re out there make sure you check out Magnolia Table (Chip and Jo’s restaurant) – it is SO yummy and the customer service was amazing! Just make sure to get there close to when the restaurant opens – there will be a wait. After Magnolia we came home, had a little music jam session with our guitars and voices singing proudly, then got dressed up in our best Texas get-ups for Billy Bobs Honky Tonk! As soon as we solidified our fall break in Texas this was the FIRST place that came to mind to show my friends. Billy Bobs is the largest Honky Tonk you ever did see – a huge dance floor full of two-steppin’ (Conner and I gave it our best shot!) and line dances to your favorite country tunes! Count me IN! Amber was a two-steppin’ QUEEN and definitely knows how to tear up the dance floor. While you’re there you can also walk around and see all the handprints of famous country stars who have been there before – you can even kiss their name on the wall! Delaney definitely took part in that with Kenny Chesney’s name and for me, Johnny Cash! I’m a big Cash girl and love to sing his classics such as “Ring of Fire”, “I Walk the Line” and Johnny and June’s duets such as “Jackson” and “It Ain’t Me Babe”. Thank you Billy Bobs for such a great and festive night in our cowboy boots and flannels – we listened to country music the whole ride home!
Day 4
Well, the time is here. Time to pack up and head back to T-town… what a wonderful, fun-filled and very Texas fall break it was! The road trip home was full of great chats, more jam sessions, of course, many many food stops. As we exited the highway and found ourselves back on the beautiful Alabama campus we cued up “Sweet Home Alabama” on the aux, rolled down the windows, and sang the song to our hearts content! What a wonderful trip – so blessed for our safe travels and adventures and so thankful for friends like them to do life with!
That’s a wrap! Hope you enjoyed following along on our very Texas fall break adventure! GUESS WHAT?! We vlogged our trip and will have a video coming SOON on Youtube! YouTube channel: Claire Marie | Subscribe and stay tuned!
